A Google Business Profile post (an "update") can hold **1,500 characters** of text, one image, and an optional button such as Learn more, Book or Call. Google shows roughly the first 100 characters in the profile card before the reader opens the post. There is no built-in scheduler, so recurring updates need a tool.

Here are the limits, the post types, what gets a post rejected, and how to schedule.

## Google Business Profile post limits

| What | Limit or recommendation |
| --- | --- |
| Post text | 1,500 characters |
| Shown before "Learn more" | About 100 characters |
| Image | One per post, JPG or PNG, 10 KB to 5 MB |
| Image size | At least 400×300; 1200×900 (4:3) recommended |
| Video | Not supported in updates at the time of writing |
| Button | Optional: Book, Order online, Buy, Learn more, Sign up, Call |
| Lifetime | Updates stay listed; older ones scroll down the profile |

## Post types

- **Update:** the general post, with text, an image and a button.
- **Offer:** adds a title, start and end dates, and an optional coupon code or terms.
- **Event:** adds a title and dates.

Products and services have their own sections and aren't posts.

## Why Google rejects a post

Google reviews posts automatically. The common rejections are phone numbers in the text, words it reads as regulated content (alcohol, gambling, some health claims), stock photos with text overlays, and links to pages that redirect. If a post is rejected, remove the phone number or the flagged phrase and resubmit.

## Which Business Profile posts get engagement

Posts that answer the question someone searching for your business has right now: this week's hours, a new menu item with a photo, a seasonal offer with an end date, a short "what to expect" for first-time visitors. A real photo taken at your location outperforms a designed graphic, and a button that matches the post (Book for an appointment post, Call for a question) gets clicks. Keep the first 100 characters specific, because that's all most people read.

## How to schedule Google Business Profile posts

Google's own interface publishes immediately and has no scheduling at the time of writing. Schedule For You connects to your Business Profile with Google's sign-in (you need to be an owner or manager of a verified profile) and schedules updates like any other post:

1. Write the update; the counter checks the 1,500-character limit.
2. Attach one image, sized to 1200×900 if possible.
3. Add the optional button link.
4. Pick a time, or set weekly posting slots and **Add to queue**.

A weekly repeat is useful here: set a post to repeat weekly and your profile stays active without a reminder. The [Google Business Profile scheduler page](https://scheduleforyou.com/google-business-profile) lists what's supported, and our guide to [connecting a Google Business Profile](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/connect-google-business-profile) covers the sign-in.
