Category: TikTok.

TikTok doesn't publish a limit on how many accounts one person can have, and running more than one is allowed. The practical limits are elsewhere: each account needs its **own email address or phone number**, and the in-app account switcher only holds **a handful of accounts per device** (three is the number most often reported, and some versions allow more). Creating accounts to dodge a ban, or to spam, breaks TikTok's rules.

Here's how second accounts work, plus switching, logging out and removing devices.

## The limits at a glance

| Question | Answer, at the time of writing |
| --- | --- |
| Can you have more than one TikTok account? | Yes |
| Official cap on accounts per person | None published |
| Accounts in the in-app switcher | A few per device; the exact number varies by version |
| Same email or phone for two accounts? | No, each needs its own |
| Accounts on one phone | As many as the switcher allows; more means logging out and in |

## How to create a second TikTok account

1. Open TikTok and go to your **Profile**.
2. Tap your **username** at the top of the screen. A list of your accounts appears.
3. Tap **Add account**, then **Create new account** (or **Sign up**).
4. Sign up with an email, phone number or Google/Apple sign-in that isn't already linked to TikTok.
5. Choose a username. Our [TikTok username checker](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/tiktok-username-checker) tells you whether a name is free before you try it.

The new account starts as a personal account. If it's for a brand, switch it to a business account in **Settings and privacy > Account**.

## How to switch accounts on TikTok

Go to your Profile, tap your username at the top, and pick the account you want. On the website, hover over your profile picture and choose **Switch account**. If the switcher says it's full, log one account out (below) and add the other.

If switching fails with a security message, TikTok has seen unusual activity. Wait a while, update the app, and avoid switching back and forth many times in a row.

## How to log out of TikTok

1. Profile > **Menu (☰)** > **Settings and privacy**.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap **Log out**.
3. Choose whether to save login info for that device.

With several accounts in the switcher, TikTok asks whether to log out of the current account or all of them.

## How to log someone out of your TikTok account

If someone else has access to your account (an old phone, a former employee, a shared tablet):

1. Settings and privacy > **Security and permissions** (on some versions **Security**) > **Manage devices**.
2. Find the device you don't recognise and tap the **trash** icon or **Remove**.
3. **Change your password** straight after, so they can't sign back in.
4. Turn on **2-step verification** in the same Security menu.

TikTok also sends security alerts when a new device logs in; check them under **Security alerts**.

## Running several TikTok accounts without the hassle

Brands, agencies and creators with niche accounts often run three or more. Switching on one phone works for posting now and then, but it gets messy fast: wrong-account posts, logged-out sessions, security checks. A scheduler keeps each account connected separately so you never switch. Schedule For You connects each TikTok account through TikTok's own sign-in, then lets you plan videos and photo posts for each from one calendar, alongside Instagram, YouTube and the rest. Plans start at $19 a month for 15 connected accounts. See [managing multiple social media accounts](https://scheduleforyou.com/manage-multiple-social-media-accounts) for how it fits together.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I have two TikTok accounts with the same email?
No. Each account needs a unique email address or phone number. You can use different sign-in methods (email for one, phone for another).

### Will TikTok ban me for having multiple accounts?
Not for having them. Accounts get banned for breaking the Community Guidelines, and creating new accounts to get around a ban is itself a violation.

### How many TikTok accounts can I switch between on one phone?
A few; the switcher's limit depends on your app version. If you hit it, log one out to add another.

### Do my TikTok accounts know they're linked?
Other users can't see that your accounts belong to the same person unless you tell them. TikTok can, from your device and sign-in details.
