Category: TikTok.

To block someone on TikTok, open their profile, tap the **share arrow** (or the **three dots**) in the top corner, then tap **Block** and confirm. They aren't told, they can no longer see your videos or message you, and you won't see theirs. You can also block from a comment, from a chat, or block up to 100 commenters in one go.

TikTok moves its menus from time to time, so the labels below may be slightly different in your version of the app.

## How to block someone on TikTok from their profile

1. Search for the account or tap their name on a video or comment.
2. On their profile, tap the **share arrow** or **three dots** at the top right.
3. Tap **Block**, then **Block** again to confirm.

The button on their profile now reads **Unblock**, which is how you know it worked.

## Other ways to block on TikTok

| Where you are | How to block |
| --- | --- |
| A comment on your video | Press and hold the comment, choose **Manage multiple comments** (or tap the pencil icon), select it, tap **More**, then **Block accounts** |
| Many comments at once | Same menu: select up to 100 comments, then block all of those accounts together |
| A direct message | Open the chat, tap the **three dots** or their name at the top, then **Block** |
| A live stream you're hosting | Tap the viewer's name in the chat or viewer list and choose **Block** |

Bulk blocking only works on people who have commented on your videos. There's no way to paste in a list of usernames, so anyone else has to be blocked one profile at a time.

## What happens when you block someone on TikTok

- They can't see your profile, videos, likes or comments while signed in to that account.
- They can't message you, comment on your videos, duet or stitch them.
- They're removed from your followers and you're removed from theirs.
- They aren't notified. If they look for you, your profile usually shows as unavailable or "Account not found".
- Old messages stay in your inbox until you delete the chat.

Blocking doesn't erase screenshots, reposts or downloads they already made, and it doesn't stop them viewing your public videos from another account or while logged out. If that's a concern, switch your account to private as well. If you're not sure whether someone has blocked you, see our guide on [how to know if someone blocked you on TikTok](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/how-to-know-if-someone-blocked-you-on-tiktok).

## How to unblock someone on TikTok

1. Go to your profile and tap the **menu** (three lines) at the top right.
2. Tap **Settings and privacy**, then **Privacy**.
3. Tap **Blocked accounts**.
4. Tap **Unblock** next to the person.

You can also visit their profile and tap **Unblock**. Unblocking doesn't restore the follow: if you were following each other before, you'll both need to follow again.

## Block someone, or try a lighter option first

Blocking is the right call for harassment, spam and anyone you never want to hear from. For people who are just annoying, TikTok has softer tools that don't cut them off entirely:

- **Restrict comments**: in Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Comments, choose who can comment (everyone, people you follow back, or no one), and add keyword filters.
- **Remove a follower**: open your follower list, tap the three dots next to someone, and remove them without blocking.
- **Not interested**: press and hold a video on your For You feed to see less from that creator.
- **Report**: if someone breaks TikTok's rules, report the account or video from the same menu as Block, so TikTok can act on it.

## How to block TikTok on an iPhone

If you want to block the TikTok app itself, for yourself or a child, use the iPhone's **Screen Time** settings:

1. Open **Settings**, then **Screen Time**.
2. Tap **App Limits**, then **Add Limit**.
3. Choose **Social**, tick **TikTok**, and set the limit to one minute a day.
4. Turn on **Block at End of Limit** so it can't be extended without the Screen Time passcode.

Set a Screen Time passcode that the child doesn't know, or the limit can simply be ignored. To stop the app being installed again, go to **Content & Privacy Restrictions**, then **iTunes & App Store Purchases**, and set **Installing Apps** to **Don't Allow**. For teens who keep the app, TikTok's own **Family Pairing** lets a parent set screen-time limits and restrict DMs from their phone.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does TikTok tell someone when you block them?
No. TikTok doesn't send a notification. They may notice because your profile and videos disappear for them and they can no longer message you.

### Can a blocked person see my TikTok videos?
Not from the account you blocked. They could still see public videos while logged out or on a different account, which is why some people also make their account private.

### How many people can you block on TikTok?
TikTok doesn't publish a limit for blocking profiles one by one. From comments, you can block up to 100 accounts in one action.

### If I unblock someone, will they follow me again?
No. Blocking removes the follow in both directions, and unblocking doesn't bring it back. They'd have to follow you again.

### Can I block someone on TikTok without them knowing?
Yes. There's no alert, and blocking is private. The only signs on their side are that your profile looks unavailable and they can't contact you.
