Choose a layout, record your half (or upload a clip), add a caption and post. Your duet appears on your profile and links back to the original creator.

If you don't see Duet, the creator has turned duets off for that video, the video is from a private account, or your account is under the age limit.

## How to duet on TikTok, step by step

1. Find the video and tap the **Share** arrow on the right.
2. Tap **Duet** in the bottom row of options.
3. Tap **Layout** to choose how the two videos sit together (see below).
4. Tap the record button and react, sing along or add your part. The original plays as you record.
5. Tap the check mark, add effects, text or sounds if you like, then tap **Next**.
6. Write a caption, choose who can see it, and tap **Post**.

Your duet keeps the original video's sound. You can lower the original's volume in the editing screen if you want your voice to come through.
