To schedule a TikTok post, open **TikTok Studio** in a desktop browser, upload your video, write the caption, switch on **Schedule** and pick a date and time up to **10 days** ahead. The option only appears on Creator and Business accounts, and the TikTok phone app has no schedule button at the time of writing. If you need to schedule further ahead, from your phone, or alongside Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, use a scheduling tool connected to your TikTok account.

Below are the native steps, where they stop being practical, a fair comparison of the options, and how the same week looks in Schedule For You.

## How to schedule a TikTok in TikTok Studio

TikTok's built-in scheduler lives in TikTok Studio, the creator dashboard on tiktok.com. Menu labels move between versions, so yours may read slightly differently.

1. **Check your account type.** In the app, go to **Settings and privacy > Account** and switch to a Creator or Business account if you're on a personal one. Personal accounts don't see the schedule option.
2. **Open TikTok Studio on a computer.** Sign in at tiktok.com and open **TikTok Studio** from the menu (or go to the Upload page directly).
3. **Upload the finished video.** Drag in the file, or select a photo post if you're scheduling a slideshow.
4. **Write the caption and set the details.** Add the caption, hashtags, cover image, who can view the post, and whether people can comment, duet or stitch.
5. **Switch on Schedule.** Next to the post button, choose **Schedule** instead of posting now, then pick a date and time. TikTok uses your computer's time zone.
6. **Confirm.** Click **Schedule**. The post appears under your scheduled content in TikTok Studio, where you can check it or delete it before it goes live.

### TikTok's native scheduler at a glance

| Rule | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| How far ahead | Up to 10 days |
| Where | TikTok Studio in a desktop browser; not the phone app |
| Account type | Creator or Business account |
| Batch uploads | One video at a time |
| Sounds and effects | Far fewer than the phone app's editor, so most creators add them before uploading |
| Other platforms | TikTok only |

These rules come from TikTok Studio as most creators see it at the time of writing. TikTok tests features by region and account, so check your own upload page if something differs.

## Where the native scheduler gets inconvenient

Take a common week. Maya runs a small woodworking channel. On Sunday she films and edits six short videos, enough for three posts a week for two weeks. Each video should go out on TikTok, as an Instagram Reel and as a YouTube Short at the same time, because her audience follows her on all three.

With native tools, that Sunday turns into this:

- **The 10-day cap splits the batch.** Videos for days 11 to 14 can't be scheduled yet, so she needs a reminder to come back next week and schedule the rest.
- **Every video is uploaded three times.** TikTok Studio for TikTok, Instagram's own scheduler for Reels, YouTube Studio for Shorts. Six videos become eighteen uploads, each with its own caption box and its own time picker.
- **She has to be at a computer.** TikTok Studio scheduling doesn't work from the phone app, which is where most of her editing happens.
- **There's no single view of the plan.** To check what's going out on Thursday she opens three dashboards.

None of this is a problem for someone posting one TikTok a week. It becomes a chore once you batch content or post the same video on more than one platform.

## Your options compared

| Option | How far ahead | From a phone | TikTok sounds and effects | Other platforms in the same post | Cost |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Post manually at the right time | No scheduling | Yes | Yes, full editor | No | Free |
| TikTok Studio scheduler | Up to 10 days | No (desktop browser) | Limited desktop editor | No | Free |
| A scheduling tool (Schedule For You and others) | No 10-day cap | Yes, in the browser | Only what's in your file | Yes: Reels, Shorts and more | Paid |

The fair summary: if you post a single TikTok a few days ahead and want TikTok's in-app sounds, post or schedule natively. If you batch more than 10 days of content, work from your phone, or publish one video to several platforms, a scheduling tool saves the repeat uploads.

## How to schedule TikTok posts in Schedule For You

Here is Maya's Sunday batch in Schedule For You. The screenshots come from the demo workspace, so the accounts and posts are sample data.

### 1. Connect TikTok once

Open **Social accounts**, choose **TikTok** and sign in to authorize Schedule For You. Connect Instagram and YouTube the same way. Each connected account shows its status, so an account that needs reconnecting is obvious before a post fails.

### 2. Write one post for three platforms

Click **Create post**, attach the finished video and select the TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts. The main caption fills every version; the **TikTok** tab lets you rewrite it in TikTok's tone without touching the others. The TikTok tab also holds the **Privacy** setting (public, friends or only me), and the composer checks each version against its platform's rules before you can schedule. In the screenshot, it's warning that a TikTok post needs a video or images attached.

For a slideshow, attach images instead of a video: up to 35 become a TikTok photo post.

### 3. Pick a time, or let the queue pick

Choose **Schedule** and set a date and time, as far ahead as you like. Or choose **Add to queue** and the post takes the next open posting slot you set in Settings, which is how Maya fills two weeks without picking twelve times by hand. The **Bulk scheduling** page does the same for a folder of videos or a CSV: each file becomes its own post in the next open slot.

### 4. Check the plan in one place

The queue lists everything going out, with the accounts on each post, a countdown to the next one and any failures with the reason and a **Retry** button. The calendar shows the same posts by day, and you can drag a post to another day to move it.

If TikTok rejects a post, for example a video under three seconds, you get an email right away with the reason and a link to fix and retry it. Temporary errors are retried automatically up to three times, two minutes apart.

### What Schedule For You doesn't do on TikTok

It publishes the file you upload with your caption and privacy setting. It doesn't add TikTok sounds, effects or stickers, go LIVE, duet, stitch or reply to comments. Finish the edit in CapCut or your editor first, then schedule the final file.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you schedule TikToks on the mobile app?
Not at the time of writing. The schedule option is in TikTok Studio on desktop. To schedule from your phone, use a scheduling tool in your phone's browser, or film on your phone and schedule later from a computer.

### How far in advance can you schedule a TikTok?
Up to 10 days in TikTok Studio. Scheduling tools that publish through TikTok's API don't have that cap, so you can plan a month ahead.

### Why don't I see the schedule option on TikTok?
Usually because the account is personal. Switch to a Creator or Business account in **Settings and privacy > Account**, then reload TikTok Studio. Some regions and new accounts get features later than others.

### Can you schedule TikTok photo posts?
Yes. TikTok Studio can schedule photo posts, and in Schedule For You attaching several images (up to 35) publishes a swipeable photo post.

### Do scheduled TikToks get fewer views?
There's no evidence that TikTok penalizes scheduled posts. Timing and the first seconds of the video matter far more; see [do scheduled posts get less views](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/do-scheduled-posts-get-less-views) and the [best time to post on TikTok](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/best-time-to-post-on-tiktok).

### What size should a scheduled TikTok be?
Vertical 9:16 at 1080×1920 is the safe choice. Our guide to [TikTok video size and ratio](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/tiktok-video-size-ratio) covers the details. Next, if the same video is also going to Reels and Shorts, read [how to cross-post to multiple platforms](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/how-to-cross-post-to-multiple-platforms).
