TikTok doesn't have a setting called "Turn off Find Similar" at the time of writing. On many app versions, the pop-up comes from TikTok's visual search (it recognises objects or products in a video), and you can hide it by going to **Profile > Menu (☰) > Settings and privacy > Playback** and turning off the option to show object tags or visual search prompts. If you don't see that option, the prompt can't be switched off on your version, but you can make it appear less often.

"You May Like" in search works the same way: there's no off switch, but you can clear what feeds it.

## What Find Similar does

Find Similar is part of TikTok's visual search. When you pause or long-press a video, TikTok scans the frame and offers to show videos, products or creators that look alike. On some versions it appears as a small bubble or a magnifying-glass button near the top of the video; on others it shows up in the long-press menu.

It's useful for finding where to buy a jacket in a video. It's annoying when it pops up every time you pause.

## How to hide Find Similar

Try these in order. Labels differ between versions and regions.

1. **Turn off object tags.** Profile > ☰ > **Settings and privacy** > **Playback**. Look for a toggle about displaying object tags, visual search or product recognition, and turn it off.
2. **Update the app.** TikTok has moved this feature between menus; the newest version is the most likely to have the toggle.
3. **Use "Not interested."** Long-press a video you don't want more of and tap **Not interested**. It doesn't remove the button, but it teaches the feed.
4. **Watch on the web.** TikTok's website shows fewer of these prompts. See [how to watch TikTok without the app](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/how-to-watch-tiktok-without-app).

There's no confirmed way to remove Find Similar completely on every version. Guides that send you to **Privacy > Suggest your account to others** are describing a different setting: that one controls whether TikTok recommends your profile to other people.

## How to clear "You May Like" on TikTok

"You May Like" is the list of suggested searches under the search bar. TikTok builds it from your search history, watch history and what's trending. You can't turn it off, but you can reset it:

1. **Clear search history.** Tap the search bar, then **Clear all** (or the X next to each past search). You can also go to Settings and privacy > **Activity center** > **Search history**.
2. **Remove a single suggestion.** Long-press a suggestion; on many versions you get an option to remove it or report it.
3. **Clear watch history.** Settings and privacy > Activity center > **Watch history** > select and delete.
4. **Refresh your For You feed.** Settings and privacy > **Content preferences** > **Refresh your For You feed**. This resets recommendations as if you were a new user, which also changes your suggestions.
5. **Filter keywords.** Content preferences > **Filter keywords** lets you hide videos containing words you choose.

## For creators: getting shown in Find Similar

Visual search works in your favour when people look for something your video shows. Clear, well-lit shots of the product or object, a caption that names it, and on-screen text all help TikTok's recognition and search match your video. Our [TikTok caption generator](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/tiktok-caption-generator) helps you write captions with the right keywords, and Schedule For You lets you plan and publish those videos from one queue alongside Reels and Shorts.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why does Find Similar keep popping up on TikTok?
It appears when TikTok's visual search recognises something in the frame, usually when you pause or long-press. Turning off object tags in Playback settings hides it on many versions.

### Can I get rid of Find Similar for good?
Not on every version. If your Playback settings don't have the toggle, the feature can't be switched off; updating the app sometimes adds it.

### How do I delete "You May Like" on TikTok?
You can't delete the section, but clearing your search and watch history and refreshing your For You feed changes what it suggests.

### Does Find Similar tell creators I searched for their video?
No. Searches and visual-search taps aren't shown to the creator.
