You can schedule Instagram Stories in two ways: in **Meta Business Suite**, Meta's free tool for professional accounts, or with a scheduler that publishes Stories through Meta's API, such as Schedule For You. Both need an Instagram **Business or Creator** account linked to a **Facebook Page**, and both can also schedule **Facebook Page Stories**. Meta Business Suite gives you its Story editor and some stickers; a scheduler gives you one queue for Stories, feed posts, Reels and your other platforms. Personal Instagram accounts and personal Facebook profiles can't schedule Stories either way.

## How to schedule Instagram Stories in Meta Business Suite

Before you start, check that your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page you manage, and have your media ready at 9:16 (1080×1920).

1. **Open Meta Business Suite** on a computer (business.facebook.com) or in the Meta Business Suite mobile app.
2. **Choose Create story.** It's on the home screen or in the Planner, sometimes under a general Create button.
3. **Pick where it posts.** Tick your Instagram account, your Facebook Page or both.
4. **Add your media.** Upload images or videos. Each one becomes a separate Story frame.
5. **Edit the frames.** Crop to 9:16 and add text or simple elements. The editor has fewer creative tools and stickers than the Instagram app.
6. **Open the publishing options** and choose **Schedule** instead of sharing now.
7. **Pick the date and time**, then confirm with **Schedule story**.
8. **Check the Planner.** The Story appears there, where you can change or delete it before it goes live.

**Facebook Stories** work the same way: tick your Facebook Page in step 3. Scheduling is available for Pages, not personal profiles. Meta renames menus often, so if a label above looks different, check [Instagram's help center](https://help.instagram.com) or Meta Business Suite's help.

### Limits of scheduled Stories

- **Fewer stickers.** Polls, quizzes, music and some other stickers may not be offered when scheduling. Stories that depend on them are best posted live from the app.
- **Still 24 hours.** A scheduled Story disappears 24 hours after it goes live, like any other. Add it to a Highlight if you want it to stay.

## Where the native method gets awkward

Picture a café that runs the same routine every Friday. At 7:30 a.m. a short video of the day's special goes out as an Instagram Story and a Facebook Page Story. At noon the longer cut goes out as a Reel, a TikTok and a YouTube Short, and a photo goes to the Google Business Profile.

Meta Business Suite handles the 7:30 Stories and the Reel well. It doesn't publish to TikTok, YouTube or Google Business Profile, so the owner schedules those somewhere else, keeps two calendars in step and checks two places when something fails. On a busy morning, that's how the TikTok gets forgotten.

## Your options compared

| Option | Instagram Stories | Facebook Page Stories | Other platforms | Stickers and music | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram or Facebook app | Post live only | Post live only | No | All of them | Free |
| Meta Business Suite | Yes | Yes | No | Some, at the time of writing | Free |
| Schedule For You | Yes | Yes | 8 more, from the same queue | None (the file is posted as is) | From $19/month |

If Instagram and Facebook are your only channels, or your Stories rely on polls, links or music stickers, Meta Business Suite is the better fit. A scheduler earns its place when Stories are one part of a plan that also covers TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn or Google Business Profile.

## How to schedule Stories with Schedule For You

Here is the café's Friday in one place.

1. **Connect Instagram and your Facebook Page.** Instagram needs a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page. Our guide to [connecting Instagram](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/connect-instagram) covers the setup.
2. **Create a post and choose the accounts.** Select the Instagram account and the Facebook Page.
3. **Set "Post as" to Story.** In the composer, choose **Story 9:16**. Each Instagram or Facebook account can post as a feed post, a Reel or a Story, so one account can post a Story while another posts the same file as a feed post.
4. **Attach exactly one image or one video.** A Story is one frame: one image or one video, 9:16, with no caption. The composer flags anything else before you can schedule it. For a three-frame sequence, schedule three Stories a minute or two apart.
5. **Pick the time** and schedule it, or add it to the queue.

Then the noon posts: create a second post with the longer video, select the Instagram account (Post as: Reel), TikTok and YouTube, and give each its own caption. Both posts sit in the same queue and calendar, and a failed Story shows up next to everything else with the reason and a retry button.

What it doesn't do: Stories go out exactly as uploaded, so add text, stickers or music in your editor first. Interactive stickers (polls, questions, links) and music from Instagram's library aren't available through Meta's publishing API. Design the frame in a tool such as our [Instagram photo resizer](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/instagram-photo-resizer) and post Stories that need stickers live from the app.

## Tips for Stories people watch

- **Use 9:16 at 1080×1920.** Small or heavily compressed files look soft after Instagram processes them; see [why Instagram Stories look blurry](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/why-does-my-instagram-story-look-blurry).
- **Respect the safe zones.** The profile name sits at the top and the reply bar at the bottom, so keep text and faces in the middle.
- **One idea per frame.** People tap through fast; put the point in the first frame.
- **Save the good ones to Highlights.** Our guide to [Instagram highlights](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/how-to-make-highlights-on-instagram) shows how.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you schedule Instagram Stories?

Yes. Professional Instagram accounts linked to a Facebook Page can schedule Stories in Meta Business Suite or with a scheduler that uses Meta's API, such as Schedule For You. Some stickers and music may not be available when scheduling.

### How do I schedule Facebook Stories?

In Meta Business Suite, choose Create story, select your Facebook Page, add media, then choose Schedule. In Schedule For You, select the Page, set Post as to Story and attach one image or video. Both work for Pages, not personal profiles.

### Is there a free way to schedule Instagram Stories?

Meta Business Suite is free for professional accounts and is the official option. Schedule For You is paid, from $19 a month, and adds the other platforms to the same queue.

### Can I add link stickers or polls to a scheduled Story?

Not through a scheduler: Meta's publishing API posts the image or video only. Meta Business Suite offers some stickers when scheduling at the time of writing. Stories that rely on polls, questions or music are best posted live.

### Can a scheduled Story have several frames?

In Meta Business Suite, yes: each image or video you add becomes a frame. In Schedule For You each Story is one image or video, so schedule a sequence as separate Stories a minute or two apart.
