Bluesky doesn't show a "who blocked me" list in its app, but blocks on Bluesky are public records, so you can find out. Open the person's profile: if they blocked you, you'll see a notice that you're blocked and can't see their posts. To see everyone who blocked you, third-party lookup tools such as **Clearsky** read the public block data and list it. Here's how both work, what a block actually does, and how to remove a follower.

## How to tell if one person blocked you

Signs that someone blocked you on Bluesky:

- Their profile says **You are blocked** (or "This user has blocked you") and shows no posts.
- Their replies in threads show as **Blocked post** instead of the text.
- You can't follow, reply to, quote or message them.

If the profile says **Account not found** or **This account has been deactivated**, they deleted or deactivated it, or changed their handle; that's not a block. If they're simply quiet in your feed, they may have muted you, which is private and can't be detected.

## How to see who blocked you on Bluesky

Because blocks are stored in each user's public data repository, anyone can read them through the AT Protocol. Bluesky chose this design on purpose: blocks must be visible to every server so they're enforced across the network.

**Clearsky** (clearsky.app) is the best-known lookup. Enter your handle and it shows:

- Accounts that block you
- Accounts you block
- Moderation lists you've been added to

It's a third-party tool, not part of Bluesky, so treat it like any outside site: you don't need to sign in to search a handle, and you should never give it your password.

A note on etiquette: seeing a block doesn't mean you should act on it. Looking someone up to argue about a block usually ends in more blocks.

## What a block does on Bluesky

| After a block | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| Seeing posts | Neither of you sees the other's posts while signed in |
| Replies and quotes | Both are stopped; existing ones show as blocked |
| Following | The follow stops working in both directions |
| DMs | You can't message each other |
| Visibility of the block | Public data, visible through tools |

Blocks are enforced while people are logged in to Bluesky. Public posts can still be seen logged out or through other apps, which is why blocking isn't the same as being private. ## How to remove followers on Bluesky

There's no **Remove follower** button on Bluesky at the time of writing. It's been a long-standing feature request. Your options:

- **Block them.** A block stops the follow from working: they won't see your posts in their feed while signed in. This is the only reliable method.
- **Don't count on a soft block.** On X, blocking then unblocking removes a follower. On Bluesky, the follow record is stored in the follower's own account, so after you unblock, the follow can come back. Keep the block if you want them gone.
- **Mute them** if you just don't want to see them, without them knowing.
- **Add them to a moderation list** if you're dealing with many accounts, such as a wave of spam followers.

## How to see who you blocked

Go to **Settings > Moderation > Blocked accounts**. You can unblock anyone from there. Mutes are under **Muted accounts**, and lists you subscribe to are under **Moderation lists**.

If you manage a brand account on Bluesky, blocks and spam waves come with the territory. Scheduling the posts themselves takes one job off the list: Schedule For You connects Bluesky with an app password and posts from the same [queue as X and Threads](https://scheduleforyou.com/bluesky), so your time goes to replies rather than copy-pasting.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Bluesky notify you when someone blocks you?
No. There's no notification. You find out when you visit their profile or use a lookup tool.

### Can someone see that I blocked them on Bluesky?
Yes, potentially. Blocks are public data, so tools like Clearsky can show it. Mutes are private.

### Can a blocked user still see my posts?
Not while signed in to Bluesky. Public posts can still be read logged out or through other apps.

### Is there a way to remove a follower without blocking?
Not at the time of writing. Blocking is the only way to stop a follower, and unblocking may let the follow return.
