# Cross-Posting Tool: Post to All Social Media at Once

> Post to all social media at once with a cross-posting tool: one draft, a tailored version per platform, live limit checks and a retry if one target fails.

Canonical: https://scheduleforyou.com/cross-posting

Write one post, send it to every account and platform you choose, and adjust each platform's version so it fits the limits and reads naturally.

## How to post to all social media at once
To post to all your social media at once, use a cross-posting tool: write the post once, select every account it should go to, adjust the version for each platform, and schedule it. The tool publishes to each account at the same time. Built-in options only cover part of the job: Meta Business Suite posts to a Facebook Page and Instagram together, and Instagram and Facebook can share some posts to Threads, but no native tool reaches X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest in one go.

Schedule For You is a cross-posting tool for 10 platforms: X, Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook Pages, Pinterest and Google Business Profile. Each platform gets its own editable version of the post, checked against that platform's limits before anything is published.

## The manual way, and the native shortcuts
### Posting in each app
The free method is to open each app and post by hand: write the caption once in a notes app, then paste it into X, LinkedIn, Instagram and the rest, trimming and re-attaching media each time. It works for one or two platforms. Past that, it takes 20–30 minutes per announcement, and the posts go out minutes apart rather than together.

### Meta Business Suite for Facebook and Instagram
Meta Business Suite can publish one post to a Facebook Page and its linked Instagram account at the same time, with a separate caption for each if you want. It's free and reliable for those two, but it doesn't post to X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky or Pinterest. Reports differ on whether it can schedule to Threads, so check your own Business Suite before relying on it.

### Sharing to Threads from Instagram or Facebook
When you post a photo on Instagram or Facebook, a Threads option can share the same post to your Threads profile, and Instagram has a setting to do it automatically for future posts. At the time of writing it doesn't cover Instagram Reels, and the menu location changes between app versions.

### Everything else
TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Bluesky and Pinterest have no built-in way to publish to other networks. You can download your own video and upload it again elsewhere, but that's still one app at a time.

## Where it breaks down: one launch, six platforms
Here's a typical case. A coffee roaster is launching a winter blend at 8 AM on Monday and wants the news on X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and its Google Business Profile at once. The core message is the same, but every platform needs something different:

| Platform | What has to change | Example version |
|---|---|---|
| X (280 characters) | Cut to the essentials, link at the end | "Winter Blend is here ☕ Dark chocolate, orange peel, a little smoke. In shops and online from today: [link]" |
| Bluesky (300 characters) | Same as X, with room for one more line | The X version plus "Roasted in small batches every Thursday." |
| LinkedIn (3,000 characters) | Longer, about the people and process | Three short paragraphs on sourcing the beans and the team that developed the blend |
| Instagram (2,200 characters) | Must have an image or video; hashtags welcome | The photo of the bag, a fuller caption and a hashtag block in the first comment |
| TikTok | Must have a video or photo post | A 20-second roasting clip with a two-line caption |
| Google Business Profile (1,500 characters) | Local call to action, one image, no video | "Pick up a bag at our Main Street shop this week" with the bag photo |

Doing that by hand means six apps, six copies of the caption, two files to re-upload, and a good chance that the X version gets cut off or the Instagram post fails for lack of an image. If one platform rejects the post, you usually find out later, by noticing it's missing.

## Manual, native tools or a shared queue
Each option has a place. This is how they compare for posting to many platforms at once:

| | Posting in each app | Meta Business Suite and Threads sharing | A shared queue (Schedule For You) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platforms covered | All, one at a time | Facebook and Instagram, plus Threads for some posts | 10 platforms in one post |
| Cost | Free | Free | From $19 a month for 15 accounts |
| Different caption per platform | Yes, by retyping | Facebook and Instagram only | Yes, a tab for each platform |
| Limit checks before posting | No | For Facebook and Instagram | For every selected platform |
| Posts go out together | No, minutes apart | Yes, for the platforms it covers | Yes, at the time you choose |
| If one platform fails | You may not notice | Shown in Business Suite | Alert with the reason; retry only the failed account |
| Best for | One or two platforms, occasional posts | Brands that only use Facebook and Instagram | Regular posting to three or more platforms |

If you only post to Facebook and Instagram, Business Suite is enough and costs nothing. A shared queue is worth paying for once you post regularly to three or more platforms, or to several accounts on the same platform.

## How Schedule For You handles the launch
### One draft, a tab for each platform
Write the main caption, attach the photo and the video, and select the accounts. Each selected platform gets its own tab: edit the X version down to 280 characters, expand the LinkedIn version, and add the local call to action for Google Business Profile. Changing one version never touches the others, and the counters under the caption show where each version stands against its limit.

![The New post screen with Bluesky, X, Instagram and LinkedIn selected, a tab for each platform, character counters for each one and a warning that Instagram needs an image or video](https://scheduleforyou.com/images/blog/composer-four-platforms-1440x900.webp)

If a version breaks a rule, the composer says so before you schedule. In the example above, it flags that Instagram needs an image or video, so the post can't fail for that reason at 8 AM.

### Platform extras in the same post
- **First comment:** on X, Bluesky, Threads, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, a comment can go up right after the post. Instagram's hashtag block goes there.
- **Threads of posts:** on X, Bluesky and Threads, a line with only `---` splits the caption into a thread.
- **Formats:** choose Post, Reel or Story for Instagram and Facebook, and set who can see each TikTok.

### Limits checked as you type
Each platform has a different ceiling, and the composer checks them all live.

| Platform | Text limit | Media notes |
|---|---|---|
| X | 280 characters | Up to 4 images or a video |
| Bluesky | 300 characters | Up to 4 images or a video |
| Threads | 500 characters | Text only, images (up to 10) or a video |
| Pinterest | 500 characters | One image required, pick a board, optional link |
| Google Business Profile | 1,500 characters | One image, no video |
| Instagram | 2,200 characters | Image, Reel or carousel of up to 10; media required |
| TikTok | 2,200 characters | A video, or a photo post with up to 35 images |
| LinkedIn | 3,000 characters | Up to 9 images or a video |
| YouTube | Title 100, description 5,000 | Video required; the first line becomes the title |
| Facebook Pages | 63,206 characters | Up to 10 images or a video |

When one set of targets needs a video and another needs an image, as in the launch above, split it into two posts at the same time, or attach the media that every selected platform accepts.

### If one target fails
When you post to many accounts, one of them occasionally fails while the rest go through. The queue shows which account failed and why, for example an expired connection or a caption that became too long after a link was added, and you get an email right away. Fix the cause, then retry: only the failed accounts are sent again, so the others don't get a duplicate.

## Cross-posting without looking automated
Cross-posting saves hours, but followers notice when every network gets the identical post.

### Write for the platform, not just the limit
Open with a hook on X and Threads, add context on LinkedIn, and give Google Business Profile a clear local call to action. Small edits make one idea feel native in each place. Our [caption customization guide](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/customize-captions-for-each-platform) has tips for each network.

### Match the format to the network
A vertical video can be a Reel on Instagram, a TikTok and a YouTube Short in one post, while a photo set becomes a carousel on Instagram and a multi-image post on Facebook.

### Know the gaps
Schedule For You posts to personal LinkedIn profiles, not LinkedIn company pages, which still need LinkedIn's own scheduler. It doesn't do TikTok LIVE or duets, it doesn't publish to Discord, Telegram, Reddit or Slack, and it reports publishing results rather than likes and impressions.

## Frequently asked questions
### How do I post to all social media at once?
Use a cross-posting tool. In Schedule For You, write the post, select every account it should go to, adjust each platform's version and schedule it. Everything publishes at the time you pick, and any account that fails can be retried on its own.

### Is there a free way to post to all social media at once?
Partly. Meta Business Suite posts to Facebook and Instagram together for free, and Instagram and Facebook can share photo posts to Threads. For X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Pinterest you'd post in each app by hand, or use a paid tool.

### What is a cross-posting tool?
It's an app that publishes one post to several social accounts and platforms at once. Schedule For You adds a separately editable version for each platform, so you aren't forced to send identical text everywhere.

### Is cross-posting bad for engagement?
Copying the exact same caption everywhere can feel out of place, because each platform has different norms and limits. Tailoring each version keeps the benefits of cross-posting without that downside.

### Can I cross-post to several accounts on the same platform?
Yes. You can select multiple accounts on one platform, such as several Instagram accounts or Facebook Pages, in the same post. See how to [manage multiple social media accounts](https://scheduleforyou.com/manage-multiple-social-media-accounts).

### What happens if one platform rejects my post?
The queue shows the failed account and the reason, and you get an email. Fix the cause, often a reconnect or a caption that's too long, then retry; only the failed accounts are published again.

### Which platforms can I cross-post to?
X, Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn (personal profiles), Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook Pages, Pinterest and Google Business Profile.
