Turn any wide image into a Discord server banner, profile banner or invite background at the right size, cropped or padded the way you want.

This page has an image resizer that runs in the browser; use the HTML page to run it. The text below is the guide that goes with it.

## Discord banner sizes at a glance
Discord server banners use 960×540, profile banners use 680×240 and invite backgrounds use 1920×1080. Each has a different shape, so the same picture needs a different crop for each one. The resizer gives you all three presets.

| Preset | Size | Shape | Where it shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server banner | 960×540 | 16:9 | Above the channel list |
| Profile banner | 680×240 | About 17:6, wide and short | Top of your profile card |
| Invite background | 1920×1080 | 16:9 | Behind the server invite screen |

### Server banner
The server banner sits at the top of the channel sidebar, the first thing members see when they open your server. The sidebar is narrow, so Discord shows only part of the full 16:9 image there. Keep the important part toward the center.

### Profile banner
This strip runs across the top of your profile, and your avatar overlaps its lower-left area. Anything placed in that corner will be hidden behind your picture.

### Invite background
The invite background, sometimes called an invite splash, fills the background of the page people see when they open your invite link in a browser. It's the largest of the three and gets stretched across big monitors, so start from a high-resolution source.

### Who can upload them
At the time of writing, profile banners need Nitro, and server banners and invite backgrounds are Server Boost perks at different boost levels. Check [Discord's support site](https://support.discord.com) for the current requirements.

## How to resize a Discord banner
### 1. Start with a wide image
Upload a landscape photo or artwork. A 1920-pixel-wide source covers every preset without upscaling.

### 2. Choose the banner type
Pick server banner, profile banner or invite background. The preview frame changes shape to match.

### 3. Crop with fill, or pad with fit
**Fill (crop)** covers the full frame and trims the top and bottom of a tall image, which is usually what you want for scenery. **Fit (add background)** shows the whole image and fills the leftover space with a solid color. Fit is handy for the very wide profile banner when you don't want a logo cut in half.

### 4. Download and upload to Discord
Save as PNG for artwork and text, or JPG for photographs. Then upload it from your profile or server settings. Nothing leaves your browser during resizing.

## Tips for banners that look right
### Mind the safe area on each format
For server banners, keep text and faces within the middle of the frame, since the sidebar shows a narrower slice. For profile banners, keep the lower-left clear for your avatar. A quick check in the preview saves a re-upload.

### Use little or no text
Banners are viewed at many sizes, from a phone screen to a wide desktop window. A few large words or a single logo holds up; a paragraph doesn't.

### Match your avatar and server icon
Pick colors that work with your avatar or server icon so the profile or server reads as one set. Resize your icon and emoji with the [Discord photo resizer](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/discord-photo-resizer) to keep the look consistent.

### Choose a pad color that blends in
If you use fit, sample a color from the edge of your image or pick a dark neutral that sits comfortably beside Discord's dark theme.

## Use cases
### Launching or rebranding a server
Create a server banner and invite background together so new members see the same visual the moment they open your link and once they arrive.

### Seasonal and event updates
Swap the banner for a tournament, a game launch or a holiday event, then switch back afterward. Keeping the original file means you can restore it in seconds.

### Personal profile polish
Give your profile a banner that matches your interests or your stream overlay. If you also want a refreshed About Me, read our [Discord bio guide](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/discord-bio).

## Frequently asked questions
### What size is a Discord banner?
It depends on the banner. A Discord profile banner is 680×240 pixels (wide and short, about 17:6), a server banner is 960×540 (16:9), and an invite background is 1920×1080 (16:9). Choose the matching preset and the resizer exports exactly those dimensions.

### What size is a Discord server banner?
Use 960×540, a 16:9 image. Discord may show a narrower slice in the channel sidebar, so center the key details.

### What size is a Discord profile banner?
Use 680×240. Your avatar overlaps the lower-left of the banner, so keep that area free of important details.

### What size is the Discord invite background?
Use 1920×1080. It's displayed large, so start from a sharp, high-resolution image.

### Do I need Nitro or boosts to use a banner?
At the time of writing, profile banners require Nitro, and server banners and invite backgrounds are unlocked through Server Boost levels. Discord can change these perks, so check its support pages.

### Can I make an animated banner with this tool?
No. The resizer exports a still PNG or JPG, which works for every banner type.

### Is the banner uploaded to your servers?
No. All resizing happens locally in your browser.
