Pick a platform, run a few quick tests anyone can do, and answer yes or no. The checker turns your answers into a plain-language verdict and points you to the platform's own status page, which has the final word.

This page has a guided shadowban self-test (it asks questions; it does not query any platform) that runs in the browser; use the HTML page to run it. The text below is the guide that goes with it.

## Why this shadow ban checker is a guided test
No website can see inside X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook or Reddit's ranking systems. Platforms don't publish an API that says "this account's reach is limited," so any site that claims to detect a shadowban automatically is guessing from public search results, which change constantly. This shadow ban checker is upfront about that. Instead of pretending to scan your account, it walks you through the tests that actually tell you something, then scores your answers.

### What it does
- Lists 3 to 5 tests for the platform you pick, each with a short note on how to run it
- Fills in test links when you type your username, for example a logged-out X search for your recent posts or your Reddit profile as other people see it
- Tells you where the platform's own status page lives, at the time of writing
- Turns your yes, no and "not sure" answers into one of five verdicts

### What it can't do
It can't log in, fetch your stats or see any restriction the platform hasn't shown you. The verdict only reflects your answers. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored, and you never need to give it a password. Never give your password to any site that offers to check for a shadowban; that's how accounts get stolen.

## How to use the shadow ban test
### 1. Pick your platform
Choose X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook or Reddit. Each has its own set of tests, because each platform limits visibility differently.

### 2. Add your username (optional)
Type your handle without the @. On X, TikTok, YouTube and Reddit this fills in an "Open the test" link next to the matching test. On Instagram and Facebook the tests rely on a friend searching for you, so there's no link to fill.

### 3. Run each test and answer
Do what each test says, then answer Yes, No or Not sure. Several tests work best with a private browser window or a friend who doesn't follow you, because your own logged-in view usually shows your content normally even when others can't see it. Skip anything you can't test; "Not sure" doesn't count against you.

### 4. Start with the status page
The first test on most platforms is the platform's own account or Page status screen. It counts most: if it lists a restriction, the verdict says so straight away, whatever your other answers. On Reddit, the logged-out profile test plays that role.

## What each verdict means
### Answer a few questions
You haven't answered enough to say anything yet. Run the status-page test first if you can.

### No sign of a shadowban
Your answers don't point to limited visibility. A dip in reach is more likely timing, topic or format. Compare similar posts before changing anything, and read [social media myths about hashtags, shadowbans and the algorithm](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/social-media-shadowban-myths) before you overhaul your strategy.

### One warning sign, probably not a ban
One test failed. That's often normal variation or a single post being limited rather than your whole account. Re-run the shadowban check in a few days and look at the status page again.

### Your reach looks limited
Two or more tests point to reduced visibility. Check the status page, fix or remove anything that may break the rules, pause automation and posting bursts, and keep posting normally for a couple of weeks.

### Strong sign of a restriction
The platform's own status page or notice says so (on Reddit, your profile doesn't open logged out). That's the most reliable answer there is. Read which rule or post it names, fix it, and use the review or appeal option it offers.

## Am I shadowbanned? Platform-by-platform notes
Most platforms don't use the word "shadowban," so it helps to know what each one calls it.

### X (Twitter)
X talks about visibility filtering and limits on reach. Your Account status page shows account-wide restrictions. People also search for a "search ban," "search suggestion ban" or "ghost ban" (hidden replies). The full guide is [am I shadowbanned on X](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/am-i-shadowbanned-twitter).

### Instagram
Instagram's Account Status screen says whether your account or some of your content can't be recommended to people who don't follow you. Recommendation limits mainly hit Explore, Reels and hashtag pages. See the [Instagram shadowban guide](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/instagram-shadowban).

### TikTok
TikTok marks some videos as ineligible for the For You feed and lists violations under Account status. Near-zero For You traffic across several videos is the clearest sign. See the [TikTok shadowban guide](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/tiktok-shadowban).

### YouTube
YouTube uses strikes and warnings rather than shadowbans, shown in YouTube Studio. Disappearing comments are usually a channel holding comments for review or hiding a user, which applies to that channel only, not all of YouTube. See the [YouTube shadowban guide](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/youtube-shadowban).

### Facebook
Facebook's Page status (or Account status for a profile) lists content that can't be recommended and other restrictions. Borderline, misleading or fact-checked posts are shown to fewer people. See the [Facebook shadowban guide](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/facebook-shadowban).

### Reddit
Reddit is the one platform with a true site-wide shadowban: your profile looks missing to everyone else while you can still post. Removals in one subreddit are moderator or AutoModerator actions instead. See the [Reddit shadowban guide](https://scheduleforyou.com/blog/reddit-shadowban).

## How to get unshadowbanned
There's no button that lifts a shadowban, but the same steps work on every platform.

### 1. Read what the platform says
Open the status page and your notifications. If a post or rule is named, deal with that first.

### 2. Fix or delete the problem content
Remove posts that clearly break the rules. Edit or delete repeated, near-identical posts and comments.

### 3. Stop spam-like behavior
Pause mass following and unfollowing, repeated links, copy-pasted comments, engagement-bait captions, unrelated trending hashtags and bursts of many posts at once.

### 4. Disconnect apps you don't trust
Revoke access for any bot, follower service or tool that likes, follows or comments for you. Scheduling your own posts through a platform's official API is normal; fake engagement isn't.

### 5. Request a review if it's a mistake
Use the review or appeal option on the status page. It's free. Anyone who charges to "remove a shadowban" or asks for your login codes is running a scam.

### 6. Post normally and re-test
Keep posting original content at a steady pace, then run the shadow ban test again after a week or two. Many limits are temporary.

## Frequently asked questions
### Is there a shadow ban tester that can see inside my account?
No. Platforms don't let outside sites see ranking or visibility data, so any tester that says it can is inferring from public searches. The platform's own status page is the authoritative answer, which is why this checker starts there.

### How do I know if I'm shadowbanned?
Check the platform's account or Page status page, then test whether non-followers can find you in search and see your replies or comments. One failed test is usually noise; several failed tests together are a real signal.

### Is this shadow banned checker free?
Yes. It's a free shadow banning test for six platforms that runs entirely in your browser, needs no account or password, and doesn't store your username or answers.

### How long does a shadowban last?
Platforms don't publish fixed lengths. Many visibility limits lift once the behavior that caused them stops, while others last until you remove a post or a review is completed.

### Can using hashtags or a scheduler get me shadowbanned?
Not by themselves. Banned or unrelated hashtags and the same block of tags on every post can look spammy, and so can duplicate posts or bursts of activity. Posting your own content at a steady pace through an official integration is normal use.

### Why does Reddit get a "strong sign" from one test?
Because Reddit's site-wide shadowban shows up in a simple way: your profile page doesn't open for people who are logged out. A missing logged-out profile is about as clear as outside evidence gets, though a suspended or deleted account can look similar.

## Post consistently, without the bursts
Schedule For You lets you plan posts for X, Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest and Google Business Profile from one queue, through each platform's official integration, with a caption per platform. It won't prevent or lift a shadowban, but it makes a steady, original posting rhythm easy to keep. Plans start at $19/month. [Start your 7-day free trial](https://scheduleforyou.com/signup). A card is required and you aren't charged until day 8.
