Make a tier list in your browser: add text or images, drag them into tiers, rename and recolor the tiers, then save the result as an image for your next ranking post.

This page has a tier list maker that runs in the browser; use the HTML page to run it. The text below is the guide that goes with it.

## Make a tier list in your browser
This tier list maker starts you off with the classic S, A, B, C and D tiers. Add items as text or images, drag each one into a tier, and press **Save as image** to download a PNG you can post anywhere. There's nothing to install and no account to create, and your list is kept in this browser so you can come back and finish it later.

### Add text and images
Type an item into **Add text** and press Enter (or tap **+**). Each text item can be up to 60 characters, which is plenty for "Gas station sushi" or "The season 2 finale." Use **Add images** to pick one or several pictures at once: each one becomes a square tile, cropped from the center, so put the subject in the middle before you add it. New items land in **Unranked** until you place them. A list can hold up to 300 items.

### Drag or tap to rank
Drag an item with your finger or mouse and drop it into any tier; a highlight shows where it will land. On a phone, tapping is often easier: tap an item, then tap the tier it belongs in, or tap **Move here** at the spot you want. While an item is selected you can also nudge it left or right with the arrow buttons, delete it with **Remove**, or back out with **Cancel**.

### Rename and recolor tiers
Tap any tier label to rename it, up to 24 characters. "S" can become "GOAT" and "D" can become "Never again." Press **Edit tiers** for more: a color picker for each tier, arrows to move a tier up or down, a button to remove a tier (its items go back to Unranked), and **Add tier** for up to 12 tiers in total. Press **Done** when you're finished.

### Save as image
**Save as image** downloads a PNG, 1,200 pixels wide, with your **Title** across the top and every tier below it. The image grows taller as you add rows of items. Unranked items are left out, so anything you haven't placed won't show up in your post. The file is named after your title, so "Best convenience store snacks" saves as Best-convenience-store-snacks.png.

### Your list stays on your device
The list is saved in this browser's local storage, and images never leave your device. Clearing your browser data, switching browsers or using another phone means starting fresh. **Reset** clears everything, but only after you tap it a second time to confirm.

## What is a tier list?
A tier list ranks things in groups instead of one long numbered list. The top tier, usually S, holds the very best; then A, B, C and D work down to the ones you'd skip. The S-tier label is widely used in gaming and is often traced to letter-grade systems where S sits above A.

Grouping is what makes the format work on social media. It's quicker to read than a top 50, it shows an opinion at a glance, and it gives viewers something to argue about. Nearly everyone who disagrees with your placements has a reason to comment, and comments are exactly what ranking content is designed to get.

## Tier list template ideas
### The classic S to D template
The default five tiers are the format most people recognize instantly. Keep them for games, characters, movies and anything where you want the post to read as a tier list without explanation.

### A blank template for your followers
Name your tiers, set the colors, add a title such as "Rank these coffee orders," and press **Save as image** before adding any items. You get an empty tier list template you can post and ask followers to fill in, screenshot and share.

### Custom tiers that fit the topic
Letter grades aren't required. Some tier sets that work well:
- **Food and products:** Buy again / Worth trying / It's fine / Skip.
- **Travel and places:** Must visit / If you're nearby / Overrated.
- **Creator tools:** Use daily / Use sometimes / Tried it once.
- **Fandoms:** Iconic / Great / Mid / Who?

### Topics that start conversations
Pick a topic your audience has opinions about and a list of 10 to 25 items: snacks from one store, coffee shops in your city, editing apps, workout classes, album tracks, anime openings, or hairstyles you've tried. Fewer items keep a video short; more items make a dense image people zoom in on.

## Making tier list content for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube
### Tier list videos
The most popular tier list videos show the ranking happening. Start your phone's screen recording, place items one by one, and talk through each decision. Write your commentary first and run it through the [speech time calculator](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/speech-time-calculator) so a 60-second video doesn't turn into three minutes.

### Instagram carousels
For a reveal carousel, press **Save as image** after you fill each tier: the first image shows only the S tier, the next adds A, and so on, with the full list on the last slide. Instagram feed posts accept portrait images up to 4:5 at the time of writing, so a tall tier list may be cropped. Run it through the [Instagram photo resizer](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/instagram-photo-resizer) and choose **Fit (add background)** to pad it to 1080×1350 without cutting off the bottom tier.

### TikTok photo posts and YouTube
TikTok photo posts look best at full-screen 9:16; the [TikTok photo resizer](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/tiktok-photo-resizer) pads your tier list to 1080×1920. For a YouTube thumbnail or a video background, check the shape you need with the [aspect ratio calculator](https://scheduleforyou.com/tools/aspect-ratio-calculator).

### Ask for the comment
End the caption with a question: "What would you move up?" or "Which one did I get wrong?" Then reply to the best takes. If you use other people's photos or artwork as items, make sure you're allowed to; your own photos and text items avoid the question.

## Frequently asked questions
### How do I make a tier list?
Add your items with **Add text** or **Add images**, drag each one from **Unranked** into a tier (or tap the item, then tap the tier), rename the tiers if you like, and press **Save as image** to download the finished list as a PNG.

### Is this tier list maker free?
Yes. It's free, runs in your browser and doesn't need an account or an app.

### Can I use my own images in a tier list?
Yes. **Add images** accepts any image your browser can open, several at a time. Each becomes a square tile cropped from the center. Images stay on your device and are never uploaded.

### Can I change the tier names and colors?
Yes. Tap a tier label to rename it. Press **Edit tiers** to change colors, reorder tiers, remove tiers or add new ones, up to 12 tiers.

### Why aren't some items in my saved image?
Only items placed in a tier are included in the saved image. Anything still in **Unranked** is left out, so you can keep spare items there without them showing up.

### Will my tier list still be here tomorrow?
Yes, in the same browser on the same device, unless you clear your browser data or press **Reset**. It isn't stored online, so it won't appear on another phone or computer.

### How many items can a tier list have?
Up to 300 items and 12 tiers. Text items can be up to 60 characters and tier names up to 24.

## Schedule your tier list posts
Schedule For You publishes the images and videos you make: a tier list carousel of up to 10 slides to Instagram, a photo post or screen-recorded video to TikTok, a video to YouTube, and posts to X, Threads, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Google Business Profile, all from one queue with a caption for each platform. It doesn't create or edit images, so finish your list here and upload the PNG. [Start your 7-day free trial](https://scheduleforyou.com/signup). A card is required and you aren't charged until day 8.
